Pro-Gun Groups may not have your best interest in mind with their advice

I recently got into a legal discussion with Jeff Chan from RKBA association.  In that discussion I pointed out that their advice to gun dealers would put them in jail, especially in an anti-gun state such as Oregon.

The topic was over “Background Check delays”, most state laws and the federal statute does have a drop dead time when you can no longer delay a transaction.  These time’s are there to prevent anti-gun zealots from using a “permanent delay” in the prevention of the sale of firearm’s or to cripple a single sporting goods store owner from being able to service his customers.  This was the selling point to pro-gun groups and its one that they are proud to have put into effect.   Only it’s “half a law”.

The government’s failure to do a background check within the allotted time is not IMMUNITY from aiding a felon in obtaining a firearm.  You could be charged with this crime if you were any citizen, as a Small business owner the following court delays would put you out of business.  You are only immune from the effect of not having a clearance on that firearm.  You can still be charged with other crimes and a liberal DA will do just that to prove a point in an election year.  The stat being yelled across the AP would be about how many felons obtained guns legally.

Unless your state specifically exempts you from other felony charges do to the governments inefficiency, DO NOT TRANSFER THE FIREARM UNTIL CLEARED.  It’s not worth your business or your freedom, and any reasonable customer will understand.  Unreasonable customers, who wants their business anyway.  These types of situations are very rare but don’t let that one rare sale be what lands you into jail.  Liberals haven’t gotten the fact that your not Gun dealers your business owners who have to feed a family yet.  They will play politics with your life.

Finally Jeff Chan is not interested in informing his mailing list of this flaw in their thinking.  Telling me to "just ignore it".  This list has been looking more an more like an Anti-gun list and if you recieve updates from it I would suggest you take hed to that fact.  There has been a deliberate effort over the years to ignore correcting advice that would put dealers and firearm buyers in jeopordy.   Despite Jeff's creditials I would suggest ignoring this branch of the RKBA's services.
