NRA Refuses Help from Pro-gunners

***UPDATE TO THIS ARTICLE***

Since the orginal posting of this article all of the links and pages at the NRA have actually been changed.  We would like to thank our readers for contacting the NRA on our behalf to have this positive change to the NRA.

We start our day by taking a look at the NRA's website. We don't just look we USE the website as the NRA intends for us to. So use their pull down box and select WEB and type guns into the box. Really a basic no brainer operation. the page that is displayed is located here. http://www.nra.org/frame.cfm?url=http://my.lycos.com/setup.asp?query=guns On this page what do we see? First A paid advertisement through LYCOS ad words(An Anti-gun company) Listing Saying you can find Guns on EBAY. No you can't EBAY is ANTI-GUN. That's why there are gun only auction sites. Why is the NRA supporting this. So if a Gun Dealer wanted to buy advertising on the NRA web site they would have to go to lycos and Bid AGAINST an anti-gun company for placement. The next thing is what we DON'T see. Gun dealers in the free section. This is because Lyco's uses Google as FILLER for their site for advertising that has not been purchased the same way we do with exactseek.com its a requirement of running a quality search engine. Sure you click deep enough you will find one. But the facts are the top 3 spots have 91% of all click throughs who holds that spot. LYCOS THEMSELVES owns the top 2. Not just 1 but two which for a dealer would TRIPLE their cost to advertise with lycos and the NRA. The Third spot is a Hosting company. Now I can't tell you how many times I typed in guns and MEANT hosting. When a retailer buys PPC he expects a standard of quality listings to be around him and his placement in those will be determined on two factors the quality of service he provides(good service equals good sales and more money to advertise) and the amount he spent for prime advertising placement. Its like a Gun Show host telling me that the Tables next to the door on the right hand side are Twice as much as the rest. Hey I will pay that. I make more money having tables next to the door 5 times more. We will research Lyco's policies of handling gun dealers later this month and update you on to what we found at the NRA. Next we clicked on the Yellowpages tab and it took us to yellowpages.com $100 - 300 per year to advertise with them and neither the yellowpages nor nra.org or the combination of both have enough traffic to their websites to justify that cost. I know millions of members. Well their millions of members are NOT using their website. The NRA's TRUE traffic rank from Alexa.com is 62,000 + Which means of ALL the websites on the web getting viewers their share only ranks them as a Top 65,000 website. Hell gunmuse doesn't have millions of members and we rank 9500 making us a Top 10,000 website. [newpage] The sad part is the outdooryp.com's owner a $25,000 lifetime sponsered member of the NRA was cold shouldered when he offered his Yellowpage service to the NRA. Why? The NRA wouldn't answer. The only answer I could get from their people when I called was "Those decisions are made at the top levels they are out of our control." The tone of that answer was one I wish I rely. Out of their control would be the key words I would focus on since you couldn't hear the despare. The NRA IS a grassroots org the lowests levels are supposed to have control over the flow of dollars in. This prevents corruption. December 12th's meeting with the President and 12 top MONEY MAKING Gun orgs and the following Plastic gun bill coupled with the blatent disregard for its members by these orgs has got to be monitored more closely. Its our THEORY that the RNC cut a 10 year deal for donations from those orgs in exchange for an enemy to fight. While the bill itself was toothless. The legistlation surrounding it in the future will not be. The War drum will start beating in two years about how they need money to fight some assenine legistlation. Combined these orgs collect close to 1 billion dollars a year. Take that times 2 and that's 2 billion an election cycle. I think better use of our money could be made than paying a politician to do his job. Like threating the companies that donate Against us by buying up their stock and changing their board of directors worse case scenerio you walk away with a victory AND ownership in a company. Politicians are a losing investment. There is no guarantee that they will win or follow the rules once they do. Aint that right Dr. Howard Dean The A rated Governor. What did they grade on the curve? We will continue to follow up on the investigation of what is going on with our right fight leaders. Why are they sponsoring Anti-gun company's? You can ask that question by emailing them directly. Send one to webmaster@nrahq.org as he should damn well know better and should of said NO I won't do it. To use what we found to be a totally useless contact form at the NRA go to here.
